Kateri Stems is one of ten herbal roots utilised in Ayurveda, along with Dasahamoola and Mahanarayan Oil.
A perennial herb with prickly, bright green leaves is called kateri stems. The herb has multiple branches and a woody base. Younger stems have cold-pressed, straight, yellow prickles with stellate tomentum. Up to 10 cm long and 5 cm wide, leaves can grow.
Benefits of Kateri Stems:
Cough, cold, asthma, respiratory tract infections, tastelessness, fever, osteoarthritis, itching, dyspnea, anorexia, skin conditions, worm infestation, and cardiac abnormalities are among the conditions it is used to treat. Amenorrhea, painful deliveries, irregular periods, and dysmenorrhea in females are all treated using its seeds. For diseases of the liver and stomach, boiled decoction of dry herb is recommended. Expectorant seeds are present. Asthma and catarrh are both treated with them.
From the fruits, kateri stems can be removed, serving as a source of basic ingredients for the production of hormones. Wild plants are collected and used locally as food and medicine. Solasodine, which is needed for the manufacture of hormones, is extracted from the fruits for commercial use.
It is used to maintain a normal body temperature, improve the respiratory system, aid digestion, open the chest, and improve breathing.
