IndianJadiBooti Babchi Seeds - Bakuchi Seeds - Bavachi Beej - Bavchi Beej - Psoralea Seeds

The age-old adage "Health Is Wealth" has never been more relevant than in the last year and a half, as countries all over the world have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. And, as the contagious viral disease spreads, the most valuable asset - health - can be not only protected but also strengthened by a treasure trove of therapeutic plants. Mother Nature has truly endowed humanity with a plethora of flora, and Bakuchi is one such herb that is well recorded in Ayurveda - the ancient Indian school of healing.

The seeds of this helpful plant, known scientifically as Psoralea corylifolia and colloquially as Bakuchi/Babchi, are kidney-shaped, bitter in taste, filled with astonishing therapeutic qualities, and yield a strong oil - bakuchi oil.

These include improving heart function as a natural cardiac tonic, alleviating fever, cough, and cold symptoms, and alleviating diabetes symptoms, in addition to their extensive use as a topical treatment for skin disorders such as psoriasis, vitiligo, acne, and promoting the growth of long, thick, healthy hair.

Bakuchi has long been known for its exceptional therapeutic properties, both for external application on skin and hair and for internal ingestion to treat a variety of diseases in the digestive, respiratory, and circulatory systems.

Bakuchi, botanically known as Psoralea corylifolia, is a plant in the Fabaceae family that thrives in humid environments in India, China, and the warmer southern regions of Africa. It is an erect annual herb with branched stems covered in thin white hair-like projections that can reach heights of up to 1 m. The leaves are normally 7 cm long, circular in form, petiolate in arrangement, and have pronounced sharp margins with brown or black glandular patches. The light purple blossoms develop into single-seeded fruits.
Bakuchi seeds are kidney-shaped, have a bitter flavour and an unpleasant odour, and have an oleaginous pericarp exterior that releases a medicinal oil. The seed, which is high in the phytonutrient psoralein as well as several other antioxidants, is the most commonly used portion of the plant in therapeutic uses.

Bakuchi Ayurvedic Indications:

The seeds of the bakuchi plant have exceptional therapeutic properties and can be used to treat a variety of health issues. According to Ayurveda, the restorative properties of bakuchi include Ruchya for anorexia, Kushtangna for skin disorders, Keshya for hair growth, Shwasahara for respiratory problems, Jwarahara for fevers, Mehahara for urinary tract infections, and Vishtambrut for constipation and other digestive disorders.

It is also useful in the treatment of allergic disorders such as acne, pimples, zits, psoriasis, scabies, eczema, and many others. It can even help cure cracked heels.

It also lowers platelet aggregation, allowing blood to flow more freely throughout the body. The herb's significant vasodilatory activity also helps to regulate excessive blood pressure.

Cancer prevention

Many research studies have highlighted the use of bakuchi powder as a useful component in the management of both benign and malignant malignancies/tumors, particularly ovarian and uterine cancers.
