
Lodh Pathani/ Lodhra is a small sized tree that belongs to the family Rutaceae. It grows wild in the sub-tropics and tropics, but is also cultivated for its fruits, leaves and roots in many parts of India. It is used as a medicinal herb in Ayurvedic medicine for strengthening immune system, promoting digestion and relieving pain.
It has Sothhar (anti-inflammatory) and Kashaya (astringent) properties that make it beneficial in skin problems like inflammation or acne which occurs due to an imbalance of Pitta-Kapha dosha.
Lodh Tree is used in treating skin problems, diarrhea and dysentery. Eye diseases and liver complaints are also treated with the bark of Lodhra. It is also used in compound decoction and infusion to treat fever, dysentery and liver complaints.
The bark of this particular species can be used to treat coughs and dysentery.
