What is Prishat Parni:
Prishat Parni is an important plant used in the Ayurvedic treatments. It is a small plant having linear and long leaves, hence got the name Prisniparni. The meaning of 'Prisniparni' is leaves. It is also known as Chitraparni as the leaves possess variegated stripes. The inflorescence of the plant looks like the tail of lion, so it is called as Simhapucchi. 

It grows in India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh. It is commonly used in Ayurvedic medicine as a medicinal herb.

The plant can act ascardiotonic, lipid lowering, antiulcer, hepatoprotective, anti inflammatory, antineoplastic, antimicrobial, antioxidant properties. It also possessesantiarrhythmic, anticholinergic, analgesic, antitumor, antihypertensive, antipyretics antipyretic action due to its content in caffeine , which acts as a stimulant . It possessesantiarrhythmicproperties due to itscontent inoxytocin-like compound called hypoglycin A (HYPA).

USES & BENEFITS:

Prishniparni (Urana picta) is an Ayurvedic medicine that is used to treat diarrhea, dysentery and intestinal worms. It is also a good treatment for nausea, vomiting and stomach pain. It can be taken with milk or water after meals or at bedtime to relieve symptoms related to indigestion.

This medicine relieves burning sensation and unctuosity in the body due to excessive perspiration or fever. It also helps promote natural movement of body fluids by improving digestion, relieving flatulence and promoting urination.

Medicinal qualities:
The rasa (taste) of this medicine is sweet. The vipaka (consumption) after digestion is sweet, while its guna (qualities) are light and unctuous. It balances Vata Dosha and relieves mild diarrhea.
