Spirulina Could Have Anti-Cancer Properties :

Spirulina may have anti-cancer properties, according to some data. Animal studies show that it can reduce cancer occurrence and tumour size. The effects of spirulina on oral cancer — or cancer of the mouth — have received special attention. One study looked at 87 persons from India who had precancerous lesions in their mouth, known as oral submucous fibrosis (OSMF). 45 percent of those who took 1 gram of spirulina each day for a year saw their lesions fade, compared to only 7 percent in the control group.

When these participants stopped taking spirulina, over half of them developed new lesions within a year. In another trial of 40 people with OSMF lesions, 1 gram of spirulina per day improved OSMF symptoms more than the medication Pentoxyfilline.

May Reduce Blood Pressure:

High blood pressure is a major contributor to a variety of catastrophic disorders, including heart attacks, strokes, and chronic kidney disease. While one gram of spirulina is ineffective, 4.5 grams per day has been demonstrated to lower blood pressure in people with normal values. This decrease is considered to be caused by an increase in nitric oxide synthesis, a signalling molecule that helps your blood vessels relax and widen.
