What is Gudmar Powder (Gymnema sylvestre):
Gymnema (Gymnema sylvestre) is a plant native to India and Africa with a history of use in Ayurvedic medicine. It has little evidence of health benefits.
The plant is native to central and western India, tropical Africa and Australia.

Gymnema contains chemicals that reduce how much sugar the stomach absorbs. It might also increase the amount of insulin in the body and increase the growth of cells in the pancreas, which is where the body makes insulin.

People use gymnema for diabetes, obesity, and many other conditions, but there is no good scientific evidence to support these uses. 

Uses:
Gudmar Powder has been used as an alternative treatment for diabetes mellitus (DM). DM is a disease that causes high blood sugar levels and increased appetite that can lead to weight gain. The aim of this study was to investigate whether there was any effect on insulin sensitivity or fasting glucose levels after consuming Gymnema tea for 12 weeks (12 weeks). The study involved 45 patients with type 2 DM who were randomized into two groups: control group A (20 participants) and Gymnema group B (20 participants). The intervention was conducted for 12 weeks and consisted of daily consumption of Gymnema.

Gudmar Powder, also known as Gurmar, is a spice used in the treatment of asthma, eye complaints, inflammations, family planning and snakebite. In addition, it possesses antimicrobial, antihypercholesterolemic, hepatoprotective and sweet suppressing activities. Gudmar Powder also acts as feeding deterrents to caterpillar; prevent dental caries caused by Streptococcus mutans and in skin cosmetics.

As a supplement, Gudmar Powder has been used in combination with other diabetes medications to lower blood sugar. It’s also called gurmar, which is Hindi for “destroyer of sugar” .
Similar to its effects on your taste buds (as well as those of any candy lover!), Gudmar Powder can also block receptors in your intestines and thus sugar absorption—lowering your post-meal blood sugar levels!
Scientific proof of this ability is insufficient to recommend it as a stand-alone diabetes medication. However, research shows strong potential for its use in managing type 2 diabetes.
