Karanja is a kind of tree in the Fabaceae family of peas and is also known by its botanical name, Millettia Pinnata. It is mainly found in Australia, the Pacific Islands, Japan, and Thailand despite being primarily an Asian native. In addition to ayurveda, modern science also uses its therapeutic properties to treat a variety of illnesses, including all types of severe skin allergies. Karanja is a strong ayurvedic remedy that is most frequently prepared as leaf extracts, stems, fruits, roots, and seeds. Karanja is slightly hotter in strength compared to many other herbs, despite having a pungent flavour and being simple to stomach. Karanja twigs were actually used as toothbrushes in the past because they are excellent for dental health.
Karanja provides a wide range of medical advantages in addition to numerous therapeutic ones. It is applied in a procedure known as "bloodletting therapy" to address abnormalities of the skin. When skin sores have become numb and there is no longer any discomfort or itching, the therapy involves taking blood from the patient's veins for therapeutic purposes. This is done by stroking karanja stem to start bleeding. In order to heal the infection's underlying cause, this therapy treatment allows the impure blood to burst forth.
The herb karanja is mostly used to treat skin conditions. The Karanja tree's roots, blossoms, leaves, and bark are all used for therapeutic purposes.
Due to its ability to increase intestinal motility and act as a laxative, karanja is frequently used in the treatment of constipation. Because of its astringent and anti-inflammatory qualities, it may also be used for piles.

To aid in the healing process, its leaves' paste can also be applied to cuts and wounds. Because of its anti-inflammatory properties, karanja oil is also beneficial for arthritis.
Taking regular baths infused with Karanja leaf helps to control pain and inflammation. From ancient times, karanja stem has been used to clean teeth and strengthen gums.
