IndianJadiBooti Shatavari Root White - Sitawar Jad Safed - Asparagus racemosus

Shatavari, also known as the "Queen of Herbs," has been used for generations to regulate hormones and as a general tonic to improve the health and libido of women. As an effective adaptogenic herb, it helps manage diabetic mellitus, lowers cholesterol and triglycerides, treats bacterial and fungal infections, oedema, and infertility in addition to relieving physical and emotional stress.

Shatavari, a natural herb with medicinal roots that are frequently employed in the creation of various ayurvedic formulations, is known as "the plant with hundred roots" in Sanskrit. The plant is often referred to as "one with hundred spouses" in some texts because it is so excellent for improving women's health and libido in females.

What is Shatavari?

The Liliaceae family includes this herb that is good for women and is derived from the roots of the Asparagus racemosus tree. It was initially identified botanically in 1799 and was regarded as one of the most important Ayurvedic herbs with a long list of health advantages. It was also a main component in many Ayurvedic preparations.

Australia, Africa, China, India, and other regions of Asia are the plant's native habitats. Usually a branching, spiny, woody climbing shrub, it can reach heights or lengths of 1-2 metres. The plant does well in rocky, gravelly soils, but prefers fertile, well-drained clayey-loamy soil to sandy-loamy soil. Moreover, the plant can be found growing in thickets, woodlands, wet, shaded, scrubby jungles, forest borders, hilly slopes, fallow fields, and plains from the coast.

The plant typically blooms from June to July and is known for its bell-shaped, fragrant, racemose white flowers with a pink tinge. Three-lobed globose berries that are uncooked and first green before turning blackish-purple as they ripen and have a peculiar bitter-sweet flavour follow these blooms. The seeds inside are fragile and dark in colour. As suggested by its name, this plant has a fusiform arrangement of many many succulent, tuberous, and spindle-shaped roots. The stem is woody and only sparingly coated in curving spines, and the leaves are often pine-needle shaped and bright green in colour. The medicinal roots have milky white interiors and light ash-colored exteriors, and they also contain surface longitudinal wrinkles.
