Kuth Meetha Powder (the sweet variety) in a way that highlights its unique therapeutic identity.

In Ayurveda, Kuth (scientifically known as Saussurea lappa or Costus) is referred to as Kushtha. While the word "Kushtha" is often associated with skin diseases in Sanskrit, the herb is named so because it is the "destroyer of skin diseases."

Core Ayurvedic Profile & Benefits

1. Respiratory Shield (Pranavaha Srotas)

  • Asthma & Bronchitis: Kuth is a potent expectorant. It helps clear the air passages by removing excess Kapha (phlegm) and relaxing the bronchial muscles, making it a primary remedy for breathlessness and chronic cough.
  • Hiccups: Its Vata-balancing property is excellent for relieving persistent hiccups and spasms in the diaphragm.

2. Digestive Catalyst (Annavaha Srotas)

  • Deepan & Pachan: It strengthens the Agni (digestive fire). It is used to treat indigestion, gas, and bloating by preventing the growth of harmful bacteria in the large intestine.
  • Gastro-Protective: It helps soothe the stomach lining and is traditionally used to manage symptoms of dysentery and intestinal spasms.

3. Blood Purifier & Skin Healer

  • Kushtahara: As the name Kushtha suggests, it is the premier herb for skin disorders. It helps purify the blood (Rakta Shodhana) and treats chronic skin infections, scars, and dermatitis from the inside out.
  • Complexion: When used topically, it improves skin texture and helps fade blemishes.

4. Joint & Nerve Wellness

  • Vata-Hara: Its warming nature makes it highly effective for joint pain, gout, and rheumatoid arthritis. It helps reduce swelling and improves blood circulation to the extremities.
