What are Raw Peanuts?
Raw Peanuts, also known as groundnuts (Arachis hypogaea), are seeds of a legume that ripen underground. In Ayurveda, peanuts are recognized for their Madhura (sweet) taste and Ushna Virya (heating potency). They are inherently Guru (heavy) and Snigdha (unctuous/oily). Because of these qualities, they are excellent for pacifying Vata (air/dryness) but should be consumed mindfully by those with dominant Kapha or Pitta constitutions.
Ayurvedic Benefits of Raw Peanuts
1. Mamsa-Dhatu Poshan (Muscle Tissue Nourishment)
Peanuts are a "Brimhana" (bulking) food. Due to their high protein and healthy fat content, they provide excellent nourishment to the Mamsa Dhatu (muscle tissue), making them an ideal snack for athletes, growing children, and those recovering from physical weakness.

How to Use Raw Peanuts

Ayurveda suggests that raw peanuts are Guru (heavy) and can cause Vidaha (burning/acidity) if eaten dry in large quantities. To make them Laghu (light) and easier to digest, soak raw peanuts in water for 6-8 hours before consumption. This neutralizes the enzyme inhibitors and phytic acid, making the nutrients more bioavailable.
