What is Harad Murabba?

Harad Murabba is a sweet herbal conserve made from the fruit of the Haritaki tree (Terminalia chebula). In Ayurveda, Haritaki is unique because it possesses five of the six tastes (lacking only the salty taste). It has a Ushna Virya (warming potency) but is balanced by its Madhura Vipaka (sweet post-digestive effect), making it a Tridoshic Rasayana that specifically pacifies Vata (air) and Kapha (mucus).

Ayurvedic Benefits of Harad Murabba

1. Anulomana & Vibhanda-Hara (Chronic Constipation Relief)

Harad is the premier Ayurvedic herb for "Vibhanda" (constipation). Unlike harsh laxatives, Harad Murabba works as a gentle pro-kinetic, improving the natural peristaltic movement of the intestines. It helps in the complete evacuation of "Ama" (undigested toxic waste) from the colon.

2. Deepana-Pachana (Digestive Fire Support)

It acts as a potent digestive stimulant. By clearing the metabolic pathways, it enhances the "Jatharagni" (digestive fire), helping the body absorb nutrients more effectively. It is highly beneficial for those suffering from loss of appetite, bloating, and chronic gas.

3. Medhya & Chakshushya (Brain and Eye Health)

In traditional texts, Haritaki is praised for its "Medhya" properties, which support cognitive function and memory. It is also considered "Chakshushya," meaning it provides long-term support for vision and reduces eye strain caused by internal heat.

4. Arsha-Hara (Piles and Hemorrhoid Management)

Due to its ability to soften the stool and reduce pressure in the rectal area, Harad Murabba is often recommended as a dietary support for managing Piles (Arsha) and preventing the recurrence of anal fissures.

How to Use Harad Murabba Safely

The Bedtime Ritual

For chronic constipation and gut detox, consume 1 or 2 pieces of Harad Murabba at night before sleeping. Follow it with a glass of lukewarm water or warm milk. This allows the herb to work on the digestive tract overnight for a clear morning.

Morning Vitality

Taking one piece of Harad Murabba on an empty stomach in the morning acts as a "Rasayana" (rejuvenator), boosting immunity and clearing the respiratory tract of excess Kapha (mucus).

Weight Management Support

Consuming Harad Murabba consistently helps in scraping away excess fats (Lekhana) and improving metabolism, especially when taken with a glass of warm water infused with a little Honey.

Wellness Routine

To maximize the detoxifying and strengthening effects of Harad, consider these relevant products from our store:

Safety Guidelines

Pregnancy Caution: Harad should generally be avoided during pregnancy due to its "downward moving" (Anulomana) nature.

Diabetes: As it is a sweet preserve, individuals with high blood sugar should consult their physician or opt for Harad Powder instead.

Storage: Use a dry spoon to extract the fruit and store in a cool, dry place to maintain shelf life.

Other Names: Murraba, Muraba
