Dhanteras is dedicated to the worship of Dhanvantari. According to Hindu traditions, Dhanvantari emerged during Samudra Manthana, holding a pot of amrita (a nectar that bestows immortality) in one hand and the sacred text on Ayurveda in the other.

Light 13 diyas with desi ghee in different places in the house dedicated to Lord Kuber, the God of wealth. Additionally, light a four-faced diya outside the house dedicated to Lord Yama. This act brings prosperity and helps resolve financial issues.

There are many mantras that can be chanted to please Lord Kuber. One specific mantra to remove financial difficulties and attract prosperity and success is:"Om Shreem Hreem Kleem Shreem Kleem Vitteshvaraya Namaha" (ॐ श्रीं ह्रीं क्लीं श्रीं क्लीं वित्तेश्वराय नमः॥)
